Kilometrical and hectometric indicators

The mileage indicators shall be used to indicate the administrative category of the road, its name and the nationality of the public roads, and the location of the mileage expressed by distance and whole from the beginning of the road.

They are installed on the right side of the road and in the increasing sense of mileage. These indicators serve to indicate the distance to the civic centre of the first most important locality, as well as to the civic centre of the nearest locality.

The mileage indicators are topographic landmarks for road networks.

The hectometric indicators shall be used to indicate the hectometric location expressed by hectometers and the whole face of the preceding mileage indicator.

No hectometric indicators shall be installed in municipalities and towns, as well as in other locations where their presence on the sidewalk would prevent pedestrian movement.

According to SR 1848-1,2,3, the mileage and hectometric indicators are made from steel sheet or plastic material, with the attachment system as specified by the manufacturer.
